Q. What is Mayford Road?
A. Mayford Road is a privately run children’s home for both genders aged between 12 and 17 years. We are registered with Ofsted and Pan London and in line with the children act 89/04 and associated regulations we will provide a high quality of care to all young people resident at the home.
Q. Will you accept emergency admissions?
A. We acknowledge that there are always times when emergencies happen and we will assist wherever we can.
Q. What training will be provided for the staff?
A. Training will be ongoing and child protection has already been arranged. Staff has a good understanding of the Children Act 89, Every Child Matters and National Minimum standards.
Q. Will there be any additional charges?
A. This should only occur if it is agreed that to maintain a successful placement for the young person additional staff or specialist activities are needed.
Q. What is the Home policy on the young person’s personal finances?
A. If young people are able to manage their own finances then we give them the opportunity to do so with support, however they will be advised to keep their monies in the office for safekeeping.
Q. What is the Home Policy on keys for young people?
A. Young people will be given a bedroom door key; they will not have front door keys.
Q. How will you help the young people to achieve their educational potential?
A. Staff will build good relationships with the schools and communicate with them frequently.
Q. What are the conditions for young people to have visits from friends?
A. Young people will be actively encouraged to have visits from their friends.
Q. What entertainment is offered by the Home and in the community?
A. We are close to Balham Leisure Centre, the ice rink and cinemas. Young people will be asked what activities they like and we will endeavour to provide this for them. The Library situated in Balham has kindly offered to come to the home to provide book readings, films and discussions.
Q. What sports facilities are available in the community? (Swimming, Gym, football).
A. A Lido is just up the road at Tooting Bec common, there are various gyms and football pitches all over Wandsworth.
Q. Does the Home provide computers for service users’ use?
A. Yes
Q. Do you have a complaints procedure?
A. Yes, all young people and their families will be made aware of the procedure.
Q. What is the daily programme for the Home?
A. This will depend on the age and individual needs of the child.
Q. How many staff will be on duty?
A. There will be a minimum of two staff on each shift.
Q. Does the Home have a Waking Night and Sleep in staff?
A. Yes
Q. Will young people have key workers?
A. Yes all young people will be allocated Keyworker once they reside in the home.
Q. What is the Home Policy on Drug/Smoking and Alcohol?
A. Smoking will be actively discouraged and there will be no smoking in the building. There will be no alcohol or drugs allowed in the house.
